When we schedule the dental procedure appointment for your child, our doctors will discuss what to expect before and after general anesthesia! We will provide you with pre-procedure instructions when we schedule the appointment
- You and your child arrive at the hospital
- During pre-op, the doctor may administer oral medications to help your child relax
- Your child goes back to the operating room with the nurse and anesthesiologist. For safety purposes, parents cannot come to the back.
- However, the team prioritizes your child’s comfort and is excellent at talking to young ones gently to help keep them calm. They’ll get to watch movies on a tablet!
- They will allow your child to breath anesthesia sedation gas until he or she falls asleep.
- Once your child is asleep, they’ll start the IV!
- When your child is under anesthesia for dental work, they will not feel anything!
Once the procedure is complete, we will welcome you in to see your child.
